My Spiritual Grid
Is it possible to use the Word of God, illuminated by the Spirit of God, to direct the children of God in their daily activities? Yes!
I believe we can take two verses from the New Testament and use them as a grid to filter out un-Christlike activity.
1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
Colossians 3:17 says, “And what you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Placing the two verses together, we can see two clear objectives for the believer that relate to our purpose in life:
- Our supreme purpose should be to glorify God (reflect credit and honor upon Him) in everything we say and do.
- As Christians, we are to do nothing un-Christlike; nothing that will bring reproach on the name of Christ.
The question must always be the same: In preaching, teaching, counseling, or whatever we are called by God to do, will what we say and do praise, honor, and exalt the Father and the Son? Will someone get saved? Will someone get closer to the Lord? Will someone want to become a disciple of Jesus Christ?
